Our Origin The Pledge

The Wine

Regional diversity is South Africa’s strength when it comes to Sauvignon Blanc. It is capable of producing a style that showcases both New Zealand’s pungency and the more subdued, classic minerality of Sancerre.

Our winemaker has travelled the wine regions of the Western Cape to source small parcels of Sauvignon Blanc that express the true terroir of each region. From regions as far afield as Lutzville, St Helena Bay and Stanford, each plot is selected to represent the variety of styles that South Africa prides itself on. The Pledge is a carefully crafted blend of these different wines from different regions.

An adventurous discovery and sourcing of small parcels situated in some of the most beautiful parts of the Western Cape. Each parcel was selected to showcase the true terroir of each specific region. Each parcel has different soil types, irrigation methods and trellising systems, all to suit that specific vineyard and climate

Each parcel is vinified separately at Le Grand Domaine to express the uniqueness of each terroir. It is then blended to showcase the
best of the best in such a way that no area overpowers one another, to deliver the best expression of Sauvignon blanc, the Western
Cape has to offer, in a particular season

Tasting Note

An expressive Sauvignon blanc with a crystal-clear color. Vibrant notes of gooseberry, sweet melon and hints of pineapple, playfully bounces off each other. A refreshing acidity tightly knits these fruit layers, capturing the essence of a unique South African Sauvignon blanc.

Ready to drink but will develop favourably in bottle for 3 to 5 years.
