The South African wine grape harvest 2019 hit a record low, largely due to the preceding drought and fluctuating weather conditions during the season. Winemakers are, however, positive about the quality of this vintage.
After destalking and gentle crushing the wine is macerated pre-fermentation for 3 days at 10°C. After fermentation the must is macerated at 30°C. Malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels of first and second use.
12 months in first and second fill French oak
Deep, vibrant ruby coloured. Pungent spice and fruit on nose, coupled with subtle toasty vanilla oak complimenting the blackcurrant/raspberry aromas. Medium bodied palate with easy tannin structure and length.
Ready to drink but will develop favourably in bottle for 3 or 4 years.
